About Our Research
The Plant and Microbial Biology Department (PMB) engages in a wide variety of both fundamental and applied research. Research goals vary from addressing fundamental questions in biology to applied studies in the control or use of plants and microbes. Some faculty conduct research on both fundamental and applied topics.
Most faculty in the department maintain a robust research laboratory, employing postdoctoral scholars as well as providing opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students at UC Berkeley.
