"Microbes have been on this planet as long as rocks have and you can’t consider one without the other." -Dr. Karen Lloyd
To sum up my interests I like to use the buzzword "geomicrobiology" becuase I am generally interested in how microbes have shaped and are shaping our planet. More specifically, I am interested in the mechanisms behind diverse metabolic strategies, the impact these metabolic processes have on geochemical cycles, how life thrives in "extreme" environments, and in what ways all of this information can help us theorize about the origins and history of life as well as how life might be functioning on other planets.
